Kindergarten teacher Betty Jo Derozier of Wabeno (WI) Elementary School won a Meemic Foundation PopIn2Win grant for a Nasco Butterfly Hydroponics Kit. Even as her students were stuck at home during the pandemic, she was able to keep them up to date on the caterpillars’ progress. She says they loved watching the malva plants grow for the caterpillars to enjoy before turning into Painted Lady butterflies.
She sent emails, posted photos and videos on Google Classroom and shared with the kids in Zoom meetings.
Finally, in June, she released the full-grown butterflies and shared some video with us, along with several photos. Enjoy the video!
