Grants and the Application Process FAQs

All Foundation Club members can apply for grants. However, only Foundation Club members who are current employees of a qualified educational institution can directly benefit from the grants.

There are 3 nomination options to choose from when apply for a Meemic Foundation Club grant:

Self-nomination is only available to current employees of a qualified educational institution.

Educator nomination is available to all Foundation Club members. This allows the Club member, as the grant applicant, to nominate a current employee of a qualified educational institution for a grant.

School nomination is available to all Foundation Club members. This allows the Club member, as the grant applicant, to nominate a qualified educational institution for a grant.

Yes! You can nominate any current employee of a qualified educational institution that is physically located and operating in Michigan whether they are a Foundation Club member or not.

You are only allowed to submit one application per grant round. If multiple grant applications are submitted for any grant round, your applications will be disqualified, and it may lead to a suspension/removal of your Foundation Club accounts.

Yes. As these are considered different grant rounds, you certainly can!

Grant award deadlines cannot be extended, regardless of the reason.  We strongly encourage grant recipients to use their grant awards as soon as they can to avoid any last minute issues or complications.

A complete application consists of your Account registration profile (so it’s important that your profile contains your most current contact information) and your grant nomination selection (self-nomination, educator nomination or school nomination). If you nominate an educator or a school, additional information is needed to identify the nominated party.

There may be circumstances, including our student-driven grant opportunities (like our Masterpieces grant series), where additional information is needed. This may include information like the student’s name, grade, school and age.

If you change schools after the grant is awarded, the grant award stays with the school you applied under, unless your school principal provides written consent that the grant award can follow you to your new school (and the new school principal also provides consent to accept the grant award).   The grant recipient should work directly with the Foundation office (TheClub@Meemic.com) for specific directions on this.

A complete application consists of your Account registration profile (thus the importance that it contains your most current contact information) and your selection of the type of grant submission (self-nomination, educator nomination or school nomination).  If educator or school nomination, additional information is needed to identify the nominated party.

There may be circumstances, like our student-driven award opportunities like our Masterpieces grant series, where additional information is needed like the student’s name, grade, school and age.

Grant awards will be delivered or shipped to the school address unless the school principal or leadership specifically provides written direction to the Meemic Foundation office to redirect the delivery to another address (e.g. to the educator’s home address to support distance learning).

All of our grant awards are owned by the qualified educational institution.  The nominated grant recipient benefits from the grant award but again, the school owns the grant award.  We encourage the grant recipient to work with their school leadership regarding their grant award and its intended usage.

Grant Winner Selection and Prize Process FAQs

We use random selection for our grant programs, except for student-driven grants (like our Masterpieces grant series), where winners are selected based on the respective judging criteria. Winner selection processes are detailed in the terms and conditions for each grant program.

No. Grant prize deadlines cannot be extended, regardless of the reason. We strongly encourage grant recipients to use their grant prizes as soon as they can to avoid any last-minute issues or complications.

The grant prize is owned by the respective winning qualified educational institution.

If you change schools after you win a grant prize, the grant prize will remain the property of the school you applied under, unless and until the school principal provides written consent to the Meemic Foundation stating that you may transfer the grant prize to your new school and the new school principal provides written consent to the Meemic Foundation stating that it accepts the grant prize. You must work directly with the Foundation office (TheClub@Meemic.com) to complete this process.

Grant prizes will be delivered or shipped to the winning qualified educational institution address, as provided in the nominator’s application, unless the principal or leadership specifically provides written direction to the Meemic Foundation office to redirect the delivery to another address (for example, to an educator’s home address to support distance learning).  The grant recipient must work directly with the Foundation office (TheClub@Meemic.com) to complete this process.
